Maria Pulos Levy
Maria Janice Pulos Levy, age 75, of Littleton, CO,
passed away on May 9, 2023,
after a long battle with Alzheimer’s disease.
Maria was born on April 29, 1948, to Arthur and Elizabeth Pulos,
in Champaign, Illinois, where Arthur was teaching design at the
University of Illinois. The family, including brother Cristofer and
sister Demetra, grew up in Fayetteville, NY, where her father
taught and eventually chaired the Department of Industrial Design
at Syracuse University, while also practicing design
at Pulos Design Associates. Maria graduated from Fayetteville-Manlius
High School in 1966 and Green Mountain Junior College in Vermont
in 1968, and continued her education at Syracuse University.
In 1976, Maria met Jacques Levy in Colorado Springs, CO.

moved to Denver, CO, where they founded their family-owned
business, Daybreak Landscaping, and raised their children,
Colbért Elizabeth (Levy) Callen and Micah Meyer Levy.
In 1989, with two young children, Maria was determined to
return to college to pursue a degree in the then new field of
Computer Science. She graduated with honors and began
a new career developing IT Systems for Kaiser Permanente.
She retired from Kaiser in 2005. Always a gifted artist,
in her retirement Maria pursued her passion for quilting
and weaving. Maria could always be found reading,
especially about history and archeology.
In 1992 the Levys moved into an 1883 farmhouse in Littleton, CO,
a cherished family home that Maria lived in until her final day.
Maria was active in her family’s community, serving
as PTO president at Euclid Middle School, a research
volunteer at the Littleton Historical Museum, and a
kindergarten reading volunteer at Ralph Moody Elementary School.
Maria was predeceased by her parents and her brother,
Cristofer Pulos. Maria is survived by husband Jacques Levy;
son Micah Levy; daughter Colbért Callen; son-in-law Nick Callen;
granddaughter Ninavera Callen; sister Demetra Pulos
and her children Corinna Foley and Kevan McFarland; sister-in-law
Jenene Stookesberry; and sister-in-law Jean Pulos
and her sons Nikos Pulos and Lex Pulos.
A small family service was held, and a red leaf maple
tree was planted in her honor to remember the kindness,
humor, love and beauty Maria gave to the world
and everyone she touched.
