Herman Arthur "Skip" Hale Class of 1966 FM High School

Obituary November 28, 2012 Herman "Skip" Arthur Hale,

Born December 5, 1946, raised in Manlius. Married the love of his life, Kathy (Bush) Hale, on March 8, 1969. They moved to Cortland from LaFayette in 1972.
Survivors: sons Kipp (Sloan) and Shane, both of Cortland; daughters Sunday (Shawn) Earle of Cortland and Shannon (Ben) Westmoreland of McGraw; siblings, Gerald (Kim) and Lori (Mike) Pease; 10 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and his beloved dog, Murphy. He was predeceased by his parents, Herman and Bessie Hale. Skip was a truck driver most of his life, traveling over the roads for a number of years. Most recently he worked for Black Horse Carriers, Tully. He had many side businesses over the years that kept him busy. He loved the auctions and making a deal. Skip had a huge heart for giving. He was an avid sports fan, always rooting for the underdog. Skip loved to play various sports, from basketball, softball, bowling and golf to shooting trap and skeet. He loved to travel and camp. He loved a good prank, a good deal and a good meal. But his greatest joy and happiness came from his children and grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Wright-Beard Funeral Home, 9 Lincoln Ave., Cortland. Interment will follow in Tully Cemetery. Friends are invited to call Monday from 5 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorial contributions in Herman's name my be directed to Loaves and Fishes of Cortland County or the Cortland County SPCA. -
