Obituary
Lawrence (Larry) Kennedy, 67, passed away on the 15th of February, 2016 of natural causes with his family by his side at Crouse Hospital in Syracuse, NY. Larry grew up in Syracuse. He graduated from Admiral Farragut Academy in Pine Beach, NJ. After high school heattended college at Nathaniel Hawthorne College in Antrim,NH. Following college he joined the United States Navy and the Naval Reserves and served for 20 years. He served during the Cold War and was stationed in Naples, Italy during Dessert Shield/Storm for reserve mobilization and was the recipient of numerous commemorative ribbons. He retired with honorable service, achieving the rank of Lieutenant Commander. Larry worked at Crouse Hinds Inc. as a Quality Control Specialistwhere he worked for 27 years. Larry is a member of various clubs and organizations including both the VFW and American Legion. He is also a proud member of the International Possum Brotherhood. In retirement, Larry began leather crafting and selling his goods at craft shows. During the summer months he enjoyed boating and fishing. Larry is survived by his loving wife of 42 years Kathy; his son Sean; his daughter Lisa (Brennon) Bower; and his granddaughter Annaliese all of Syracuse; along with his brother Walter (Sheila) Kennedy of San Diego, CA; Mother-in-law Laura DeVita of Syracuse and Brother-in-law Joseph DeVitaof Webster, NY. Larry is preceded in death by his parents Lewis and Alice (Otto) Kennedy of Bridgeport and Father-in-law Dominick DeVita of Syracuse. A private Memorial Service will be held on a future date at the family home on Oneida lake in Bridgeport, NY. In lieu of flowers the family is requesting a memorial donation be made in care of Larry and Kathy Kennedy to Bridgeport Volunteer Fire Department PO Box 600 Bridgeport, NY 13030; whom the family and Larry would like to thank for all the services they provide.
