Randy K. Saltern, 69, of Manlius, passed away Thursday, January 5, 2017 at Crouse Hospital in Syracuse.
He was born February 26, 1947 in Easton, PA, a son of the late Reagle W. and Betty J. Rutt Saltern and received his education in Fayetteville-Manlius schools. Randy worked at the Pepsi Beverage Co. in Syracuse for 41 years until retiring. He was a model train collector and enjoyed going to train shows.
Randy is survived by a sister and brother-in-law, Patti and Bill Martin of Morrisville; brother and sister-in-law, Kyle and Eileen Saltern of Morrisville; nephew, Matthew Saltern of Oriskany Falls; and a niece, Lacey (Chris) McDonald of Bridgeport.
In keeping with his wishes, there are no services or calling hours.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Burgess & Tedesco Funeral Home, 31 Cedar St., Morrisville, NY.

Rick D'Louhy passed away November 30th, 2016

1. With great sadness I have to announce the sudden passing last night of Rick D'Louhy. If you were at ANY Car Cruise or Car Show, you would have seen Rick walking around passing out flyers in one of his colorful shirts that he would always wear and talking to his many friends who would be there. You couldn't miss him. He was the guy with the huge smile on his face, a hand full of flyers and he was about 6 ft 5 inch's tall. He was everywhere promoting some kind of car show. Anything car related. He was also the founder of the Daytona Beach Dream Cruise. I'm not sure of the exact amount of years that Rick and I were friends, but probably at least 25 years. Such a Smart, Kind, Happy man. I will miss his Huge smile and hearing his "HEY PAT" as we would pass each other at Car Show. RIP Rick. I will miss you.

Richard "Dick" D'Louhy

Richard (Rick) D'Louhy died Nov. 30 due to complications after surgery. He was born in 1949 in Bridgeport, CT to Richard and Roberta D'Louhy. He graduated from Fayetteville-Manlius HS (NY) in 1966, the University of Tampa in 1970, earned a Master's in economics from UF, followed by a PhD in 1975. His career included city administration in Ocala, municipal consulting based in Clearwater, and government relations for Cablevision in FL. His love of cars led to becoming Executive Director of the Daytona Beach Racing and Recreational Facilities District for 12 years, where he oversaw and promoted the Turkey Rod Run and originated the Spring Speedway Spectacular in 1990. After several years with Zephyrhills Festivals Car Shows, he created the Daytona Beach Dream Cruise in 2008. The popular 9th annual event was recently held in October. Rick co-authored Forgotten Fiberglass, about the golden age of custom-built sports cars, with long-time friend, Geoff Hacker. They and their cars have been featured in magazines, car blogs, websites, YouTube videos and Americarna on Velocity. Rick was a member of Christ Presbyterian Church, Volusia AACA and active in regional car clubs, events and activities. Rick was humble, conscientious, and always ready to help others. He truly enjoyed life. He had an encyclopedic knowledge of classic and obscure cars that he loved to share with others. He leaves behind Lynn, his wife of 44 years, daughters Jennifer (Gabe) Bouch and Lisa (Addison) Tweedy, son David (Sarah) D'Louhy, 12 grandchildren, sister Diane (Alan) Brand and niece, plus many extended family and friends. A Celebration of the Resurrection service will be held at Christ Presbyterian Church, 1035 W. Granada Blvd. Ormond Beach, FL 32174 on Dec. 28 at 2:00. Memorial donations may be made to Christ Presbyterian Church.

Abbie Swanger Weaver

Abbie Jane Weaver,
 age 65, passed away on Sunday, June 15, 2014 in San Antonio, Texas. The only child of the late Donald Swanger and Jane Snyder Swanger, Abbie was born on November 3, 1948 in Oberlin, Ohio. She resided in Ohio and Central New York before relocating to Texas in 1971.
Abbie attended Southern Methodist University and was a member of the Delta Gamma Sorority. She was also an active member of University United Methodist Church.
Abbie enjoyed Christmas tree decorating and always coordinated themed wrapping paper for Christmas gift giving. She was also a wonderful home decorator and made beautiful wreaths.
Abbie was a devoted mother and loved to take her two daughters shopping. She was a generous and loving woman who lived with vigor despite her many health problems.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Abbie is survived by her husband, Charley Weaver and daughters, Betsy Nanchy and Lori Thomas.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 22, 2014 at Porter Loring Mortuary North.

Richard "Rick" Wilson

Obituary Richard "Rick" P. Wilson, 68, of Syracuse, passed away on Saturday at his home with his family by his side. A life resident of Syracuse, he retired from Bristol Myers Squibb after 40 years of dedicated service. After retirement, Richard worked at Berkshire Hathaway. An avid fisherman, he enjoyed fly fishing in the Salmon River. He loved spending time in the Adirondacks. Richard had many friends and enjoyed open mic night. He had a profound love for guitars and his Harley Motorcycle, but most of all he enjoyed spending times with family and friends. Richard was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He was predeceased by his parents, Perry and Helen Wilson. Survivors include his wife of 13 years, Diane Gainer Wilson; sons, Richard S. Wilson (Christina) of N. Carolina, Greg (Natalie) Wilson of Chicago, Brian (Leah) Wilson of Little Falls, Mark (Alexandra) Wilson and Kevin Wilson, both of Syracuse; step-son, Christopher (Jessica) Bruns of Beamus Point; brother, Bruce (Vicki) Wilson of KY; 11 grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank the Upstate Cancer Center and Hospice of CNY for their care and compassion. Lawrence (Larry) Kennedy, 67, passed away on the 15th of February, 2016 of natural causes with his family by his side at Crouse Hospital in Syracuse, NY. Larry grew up in Syracuse. He graduated from Admiral Farragut Academy in Pine Beach, NJ. After high school heattended college at Nathaniel Hawthorne College in Antrim,NH. Following college he joined the United States Navy and the Naval Reserves and served for 20 years. He served during the Cold War and was stationed in Naples, Italy during Dessert Shield/Storm for reserve mobilization and was the recipient of numerous commemorative ribbons. He retired with honorable service, achieving the rank of Lieutenant Commander. Larry worked at Crouse Hinds Inc. as a Quality Control Specialistwhere he worked for 27 years. Larry is a member of various clubs and organizations including both the VFW and American Legion. He is also a proud member of the International Possum Brotherhood. In retirement, Larry began leather crafting and selling his goods at craft shows. During the summer months he enjoyed boating and fishing. Larry is survived by his loving wife of 42 years Kathy; his son Sean; his daughter Lisa (Brennon) Bower; and his granddaughter Annaliese all of Syracuse; along with his brother Walter (Sheila) Kennedy of San Diego, CA; Mother-in-law Laura DeVita of Syracuse and Brother-in-law Joseph DeVitaof Webster, NY. Larry is preceded in death by his parents Lewis and Alice (Otto) Kennedy of Bridgeport and Father-in-law Dominick DeVita of Syracuse. A private Memorial Service will be held on a future date at the family home on Oneida lake in Bridgeport, NY. Joyce Powell Donohoe, 66, of Camillus and Ft. Myers, FL, passed away Monday, November 9, 2015, after a 20 year illness. Born December 18, 1948, in Cambridge, MA, she was the daughter of Harry Powell and the late Edna Cousineau Powell. Joyce was a graduate of Fayetteville Manlius High School and Maria Regina College. In 1996 in Camillus, she married Peter J. Donohoe, Jr. Locally, she was a member of DeWitt Community Church, Syracuse Stage Guild, Four Seasons Garden Club, Bellevue Country Club, was a council member of the Everson Museum and was also a sustaining member of the Junior League of Syracuse. In Ft. Meyers, FL, she was a member of the Fiddlesticks Country Club. Joyce valued and loved her family above all else and treasured her enormous circle of friends. She worked tirelessly to be of benefit in every relationship she made. Her cheerful personality, courage and perseverance throughout her ordeal were admired by all. She is survived by her husband, Peter of Camillus and Ft. I am at a loss for words to adequately describe my sadness in announcing Joyce’s passing this morning, peacefully, at home with her daughter Jacque and me, after an epic struggle with cancer, and with a fierce determination to live every minute to its fullest, until her energy was totally spent.

I know that I can speak for the rest of her family in thanking all of you who have been close enough to support Joyce and us during the very difficult past sixteen months of her twenty year ordeal. The constant stream of visitors to our home the past three weeks is in itself a fine tribute to this wonderful woman, my wife, my love, my Joyce.

Robert H. Schermerhorn, Jr., 68, of Manlius, passed away at home on Wednesday. He was born in Syracuse, the son of Robert H., Sr. and Carol Schermerhorn. Robert served in the United States Army during Vietnam. He proudly served as a LRRP and received two Purple Hearts during his service. Robert was a member of the Vietnam Veterans of America and the Military order of the Purple Heart.
He later worked for FedEx as a Ramp Agent. Robert loved being “Papa” to his grandchildren and fishing and hunting with his dad.
Surviving are his wife Yvonne of 20 years; daughter, Aimee Hoppins; grandchildren, Jeffrey Frawley, Courtnee Hoppins, Paige, Norman, Lane and Ben Perl; great-grandchildren, Madilynn Frawley and Carmen Ravesi. He was pre-deceased by step daughter, Shannon Frawley.
Calling hours will be Tuesday 11am-1pm at the Newell-Fay Manlius Chapel, 8171 Cazenovia Road, Manlius. A funeral service will follow at 1pm at the funeral home. Burial with military Honors will follow at Manlius Village Cemetery, Military Drive, Manlius.

Michael J. Brown Obituary July 14, 2015 Michael J. Brown, 66, of Fayetteville, passed away Tuesday with his family at his side. He was a graduate of Fayetteville-Manlius High School and worked as an electrician for the IBEW Local 43. He was a member of the St. Regis Mohawk Nation, coach of women's lacrosse at F-M, and enjoyed golf and fishing. He served in the US Army during Vietnam. His greatest love was his family, especially his daughters and grandchildren. He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Cathleen Hahn Brown; and daughters, Rebecca Brown of Fayetteville, Emily Hunt (Ryan) of Virginia and Sarah Hunt (Brian) of Fayetteville. He was "Grampy" to Teagan, Audrey, Zoe, Ethan and Declan. Obituary November 28, 2012 Herman "Skip" Arthur Hale,

Born December 5, 1946, raised in Manlius. Married the love of his life, Kathy (Bush) Hale, on March 8, 1969. They moved to Cortland from LaFayette in 1972.
Survivors: sons Kipp (Sloan) and Shane, both of Cortland; daughters Sunday (Shawn) Earle of Cortland and Shannon (Ben) Westmoreland of McGraw; siblings, Gerald (Kim) and Lori (Mike) Pease; 10 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and his beloved dog, Murphy. He was predeceased by his parents, Herman and Bessie Hale. Skip was a truck driver most of his life, traveling over the roads for a number of years. Most recently he worked for Black Horse Carriers, Tully. He had many side businesses over the years that kept him busy. He loved the auctions and making a deal. Skip had a huge heart for giving. He was an avid sports fan, always rooting for the underdog. Skip loved to play various sports, from basketball, softball, bowling and golf to shooting trap and skeet. He loved to travel and camp. He loved a good prank, a good deal and a good meal. But his greatest joy and happiness came from his children and grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Wright-Beard Funeral Home, 9 Lincoln Ave., Cortland. Interment will follow in Tully Cemetery. This is so sad. Sandy was among the kids who attended the "little school house" next to
the main school on Pleasant street in Manlius There were just too many of us baby boomers to fit elsewhere . We were  friends  through grade school. I have many fond memories of her sweetness.
 I still remember where her house was along Troop K road by the creek and always thought it was a cool spot.  I saw her once in the early 80s but that was the last contact. I'm sorry she has left us at such a young age.

Reading these posts are like a sad stroll in time.  No sense in hurrying through.  Faces flash back in your mind along with the "what if".  I was not aware of how many of our classmates have already left us, a bit of a shock.  Our brains play a joke on us and we still think we are the young person we once were.  Debbie, thanks for all you have done and do to keep us together.  I never felt I really had many friends in FM, we have discussed this quite thoroughly, but I realize a great number of us felt the same.  God Bless all the souls that have left us.

Like Ralph Braun expressed, it is just so sad to see that Sandy has passed.  There was a special bond for those of us that attended "the Little Schoolhouse."  She was very special, such a sweet, pretty girl.  I didn't know her after we grew up, but I do feel privileged to be able to call her a true friend while I attended F-M.  She will be missed.  Prayers go out to her family and friends.

She was born December 14, 1947 in Manlius, NY to Niles and Grace Tice. 

She is survived by her husband, Ernest E. Flanders; children, Scott (Lynn) and Robin; grandchildren, Emma, Leslie, Jeremy and Kyle (deceased); and a great-grandchild, Kyle. She will be missed by the folks at Magnolia Point Realty and her beloved church, Living Waters. She was loved by all who knew her.

I'm very sorry to hear of Dave's passing. I knew him well as a kid. We lived fairly close. Perhaps you know that he served in the "brown water navy" down in the delta area of Vietnam.  I believe he was stationed on a PBR (patrol boat river) among the many rivers and back waters there. None of this may be familiar to you but the point is,  many areas of Vietnam were heavily defoliated with agent orange, in particular the Mekong delta. There is no doubt in my mind that his illness was directly related to his service. The illness that was mentioned is on the VA's list , presumed to be related to agent orange poisoning. There were other highly toxic agents used all over the country but agent orange tops the list of killers.

It's very sad that people who served this country have been paid back with poison that doesn't show up until much later in life.

We will all miss you brother.

So very sad. We have lost so many classmates. I was going to meet up with Dave during this trip to Syracuse. I have not visited with him since 1965 but many Facebook conversations. I waited too long. Dave Courtwright, I don't remember well.  I know we went to school together, most likely had some classes together.  It's 'funny" how things work out.  We became friends again, on FaceBook, and my husband, Ed Cranford, and Dave shared their Vietnam experiences together, often.  They were the brothers that anyone who was in that war become.  He will be missed by us both.  Our prayers go out to his family and friends.

David L. Courtwright, 66 of Liverpool, passed away Wednesday at the V.A. Medical Center in Syracuse. David was raised in the Pompey, Manlius and Fayetteville area and then was a resident of the Town of Volney for over 25 years. He was a graduate of Fayetteville-Manlius High School in 1966. He was employed as a truck driver for over 30 years, most recently with Gypsum Express in Baldwinsville. David was a veteran of the Vietnam War serving with the U.S. Navy. He was of the Catholic faith. David was predeceased by his parents, Earl and Lois Courtwright and a brother, Peter Courtwright.

Surviving are his sons, David J. (Anne) Courtwright of Tully, Patrick (Jennifer) Courtwright of Mexico and Christopher Todd Courtwright of Pulaski; his daughters, Erin Comstock (Scott) of Parish, Shada Courtwright (Chris) of Liverpool, Abbagail Courtwright (Brett) of Constantia and Kylie Courtwright serving in the U.S. Navy; his brothers, William of Manlius and Thomas (Pat) of Chittenango; his sister, Carol O'Hora (John) of Florida; his sister-in-law, Amanda Courtwright of Chittenango; 14 grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be 5 p.m. at the G.F. Zimmer Funeral Home, 702 Legion Drive, Chittenango. Burial with military honors will follow in Oakwood Cemetery, Chittenango. This is such sad news.
Rich and I go back to kindergarten and I have so many wonderful   filled memories of growing up with him as a friend and the great times we had.
Teen age summers were special because we both lived in Oran then and spent most of the warm days at a particular swimming hole along Limestone creek,  fishing, camping out and pestering the local neighbors.
That consisted  mostly of bothering and flirting with the Jowett and Gaulin girls, although some of the other neighbors living in that area were recipients of actions a little less noteworthy. You can guess at the adolescent pranks that were executed.
 Sometimes we got caught sometime we felt we had really pulled a fast one on some unsuspecting neighbor and laughed heartily over our success, but seldom would these fits of teenage excess result in any real damage done. We were just pushing the limits.
Rich, Al Clute, Dave Copeland and I could be found at the "flat piece" as we named it, most hours of the day and sometimes nights throughout the whole summer.
 I never look back on those years without wishing they could be again. The days and we, were so carefree and full of what the future would bring.
I stopped there a few years ago  and the memories came flooding back, of course the place looks so different now , not nearly so open and much smaller in scope then the memory of it but the sparkle of youth was still there waiting to be revisited.
The bridges along the old Oran Delphi road nearby are closed and crumbling now but in crossing them on foot I could still see us sitting on the concrete siding talking, plotting a caper or just absorbing the wonder of being without a serious care in the world. Rich was an integral part of it all that and It would have been a lesser experience without him there.
 In a few short years, everything would change forever, as it must but from this late vantage point , let me say, those remain some of the best years of our lives, never to be repeated but never to be forgotten.
 He was a good pal and I morn his passing with a deep sadness

Richard Edward Milovicz

While holding the hand of family, Richard Edward Milovicz passed away peacefully on November 30, 2013 to join his beloveds, brother, Stephen C. Milovicz, niece, Kimmy McCarthy, and dog, Bo.

Rich was born November 23, 1948, the middle child of the late Stephen A. and Catherine Milovicz, in Manlius, NY. He served proudly as a sonarman in the United States Navy, achieving the rank of first class petty (coat) officer by the age of 23. He graduated with high honors from N.C. State, a chemical engineer, and retired from a full career at Proctor & Gamble in Baltimore, MD. Rich loved golf and had a penchant for rescuing stray animals.

He had a daughter of whom he was very proud, and she is unceasingly grateful for the father who taught her algebra at 3, gifted her confidence and strength through his steadfast love, showed her how to be honest and empathetic, and passed down a penchant for rescuing stray animals.

He is survived by his daughter, Leigh Barton and her mother, Sue Milovicz, his sister, Kathie Brunken, sister-in-law, Diane Milovicz, godmother, Mary McWilliams, dog, Jasper, cat, Rain, and numerous friends.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 4:30pm Tuesday, December 3, 2013, at Andrews Market Street Chapel with Chaplain Anne Gordon officiating. The family will greet friends before and after the service starting at 4:00pm.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in his name may be made to New Hanover County Humane Society, 2405 N. 23rd Street, Wilmington, NC 28401.

Jon Spring, 66, of Manlius died unexpectedly on Friday. Born in Syracuse, Jon was a graduate of Fayetteville-Manlius High School and attended Auburn Community College. Jon retired from the Village of Fayetteville DPW. He owned Pompey Lawn Service for over 30 years and was currently a bus aide to special needs children in the Fayetteville-Manlius School District. He was a member of the Oran Community Church and the Manlius Fire Department where he had served as DMO and ambulance driver. He was an Air Force Veteran of Vietnam. He is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Mary Ellen Becker Spring; son and daughter-in-law, Christopher G. and Judy Spring; grandchildren, Jordan Michael and Maddison Rose; sister, Deborah Dammer; sister and brother-in-law, Carol and Tim Fox; niece Katrina Fox; and great-niece, Kaitlynn. He was predeceased by his mother and step-father, Karoline and Ernest Pittman; father, Samuel G. Spring; and brother, Wallace Spring. I'm so sorry to hear this sad news. Randy was way too young.
My heart  and condolences go out to everyone, especially Debbie who I've known since kindergarten.

                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                    Clifford Randy Graham, aka 1-800-Randy, 65, of Manlius, passed away on Thursday at Francis House. He was born in Syracuse on May 11, 1948 and graduated from Fayetteville-Manlius High School. He served with the US Navy from 1968 to 1971. Randy was a supervisor for CSX for 33 years. He enjoyed NASCAR, his garage, and all his dear friends. Randy will be sadly missed by his family and all who knew him. He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Deborah; a son, Christopher Graham of Manlius; his mother, Elizabeth Graham of Jamesville; a brother, Robin (Mary Lynn) Graham of Chittenango; an aunt, uncle and several cousins.
